Dependants may remain in the fund in their own right after reaching the age of twenty-one (21) years as student dependants or up to the age of 25 on an Extended Family membership. Dependant children can still be covered asunder their parents’ membership provided the following conditions are met:
Unmarried
A full time student at a school, college or university which is recognised for income tax purposes
Is under the age of 25 years
Is in receipt of an annual income not in excess of that which is recognised as the maximum annual income a person may derive before taxation becomes payable, and
A Student Declaration form is submitted.

Keeping your family covered: Student Dependant
The student year begins annually on 1 March and dependants on Family memberships aged 21-25 who are studying full-time are required to be registered with our health partner Phoenix Health as a Student Dependant prior to the commencement of the student year.
Any dependants aged 21-24 on who are not registered as Student Dependants by 28 February will be removed from Family memberships.
How to register your Student Dependant
The good news is that registering your Student Dependant is quick and easy! Here’s a few ways you can register them:
1. Register Online via your Online Member Services (OMS) portal
Update their status online via your OMS portal. If you haven’t used OMS before, you can register and login using your membership number.
2. Over the phone with a team member
Give our health partner a call on 1800 028 817 and have your membership number, the name of where your dependant will be studying full-time and the year that they are due to complete their study handy.
3. By email
Send our health partner, Phoenix health an email to enquiries@phoenixhealthfund.com.au and make sure you include your membership number, your full name, your dependant’s full name, the name of where they will be studying full-time and the year that they are due to complete their study.
Keeping your dependant covered if they aren’t studying full-time
Looking after the health of your family has never been more important. If your dependant isn’t studying full-time, you can upgrade your Family membership to Extended Family cover.
For less than the cost of a single membership, you can keep your dependant on your policy until their 25th birthday with Extended Dependant cover. Give our health partner Phoenix Health Team a call on 1800 028 817 and we can check if Extended Dependant is available on your level of cover, give you a quote and even upgrade your membership.
